Welcome to Honey Be Good!

I’m grateful to have a new fabric shop sponsor to introduce to you today.

Honey Be Good is an online shop specializing in sustainable goods for quilting.

The owner, Karen, is a quilter and fabric lover who is passionate about sustainable and fair trade production of fabric.

She has used that passion to create a beautiful and unique shop full of fabric, notions and patterns.

I pulled some of my favorites to share with you:

I love that these 100% organic cotton threads come on wooden spools.

Beautiful organic solids from Robert Kaufman.

These fabrics from Harmony Arts are 110″ wide.    Loving the thought of not having to piece a quilt backing!

And the colors in these  are  so soothing.    This is the Simpatico line by Michelle Engel Bencsko.

Honey Be Good is currently running a special on the Simpatico line from Cloud 9 Organics through July 8th.

For every $30 you spend in the shop you receive a free fat quarter of your choice from any of the Simpatico prints.

And because I’m a total enabler (sorry! or… your welcome?), while perusing the site, I noticed they are offering free shipping until June 30th and you also earn a 1 reward dollar for every $15 you spend when you sign up for an account during checkout.

Sending a big ‘ole welcome to Honey Be Good,

Lindsey

Permission Granted

I got some exciting news yesterday that I’ve been hoping for!

Do you remember the triangle quilt?

My Aunt gave me a bunch of her old quilt books from the 80′s and I found the pattern for the triangle quilt in one of them.

I had a lot of you want me to share the pattern, but it didn’t belong to me.

The book this quilt is in has long been discontinued.

I tried several channels for contacting the author, Judy Martin, to get her blessing to share the pattern with you.

I finally had some luck getting in touch with the publisher and heard yesterday that Judy said yes!  Yay!

I’ll be working on a PDF pattern to share as soon as I possibly can.

A big thank you to Judy for allowing me to share her beautiful pattern!

Lindsey

P.S. A big thank you to those who voted for my pillow in the Summer Sewing Contest.  I found out this morning that I won the Home Decor category.    I am so excited and grateful for your support!

Zakka Style :: Patchwork Potholders

This post is part of the Zakka Style Sew Along, please visit here to catch up if you’re just joining us!

——————–

Welcome to week 13 of the Zakka Style sew along!

I’m filling in for Penny today as we take a peek at the Patchwork Potholder project in the book.

I have said this about every thing I’ve made from this book, but I LOVE this project!

Retro Mama designed the potholders and they are a functional and fun project to make.

I love when you make something and when you’re done you think, wow I did that!    That’s how I felt about binding the circle.

I wasn’t so sure how that would work out, but it was kind of magical.

Kim did update the instructions for applying the binding on her blog.   You can view that here.

She added a step by step tutorial with pictures, so you may find that more helpful if you’ve never bound anything before.

I followed the instructions on her blog versus the book and they are very well written and easy to follow along.

I always love choosing fabrics for a project.

I had a retro kitchen print from Michael Miller and it seemed just perfect for a set of potholders!

I used Essex yarn dyed linen in flax as my neutral.   I can’t say enough good things about the Essex linen.

I always have slippage problems when I sew with 100% linen and using the cotton/linen blend makes things much more stable and less frustrating!

I know you’re going to have fun with this project, I can’t wait to see what you make!

The link up is open and this week’s prize is a $25 gift certificate to Sew Mama Sew.

Get sewing and be sure to ask questions in the flickr group if you have any problems!

xx Lindsey

Giveaway from Fort Worth Fabric Studio!

**Giveaway is now CLOSED, thank you!**

I am very  excited today to welcome Fort Worth Fabric Studio as a new sponsor at LRstitched!

The owner, Jodie, is very sweet and this store is her creative dream.

When I saw Fort Worth in the name I immediately asked her if it was Fort Worth as in Texas?

I grew up in Dallas which is about 45 minutes from Fort Worth.   I was tickled when she said yes.

Small world!

She has a wide selection of beautiful fabrics and LOTS of custom fat quarter bundles.

I picked three of my favorites to share.

The Ta Dot bundle has all 37 colors of this print from Michael Miller.

I love polka dots and especially in a rainbow of colors!

And this bundle called I love a Rainy Day, cracks me up.  How cute are the Donkey’s in rain boots?

Love these colors!  This is a custom bundle for the Quilt Con block challenge.

The shop offers great prices on shipping and all patterns ship FREE.

Jodie also put together a bundle for me to giveaway to one of you!

Just leave a comment for a chance to win this fat quarter bundle called ‘Luminosity‘.

15 fat quarters in shades of gray, white, black and yellow.

The giveaway is open to all readers both US and International and will stay open until Friday, June 15th at 10 am EST.

Good Luck and welcome to Fort Worth Fabric Studio!

xo, Lindsey

P.S.  I’m so sorry for being late, late, LATE with this post.

Summertime with a 5 and 6 year old…. phew!

This post is part of the Zakka Style Sew Along, please visit here to catch up if you’re just joining us!

——————–

You all rocked the zip organizers last week!!!

Excuse the massive mosaic, but I had to squeeze all I could find in the flickr group.

(If I missed yours, it was not on purpose!)

This was a challenging project, and I thought maybe 5 or so people would complete it.

Wha?  More like 28, woot!

And the fabric choices!  I kept saying to myself, ooh I want one like that, and that and that and that….

So out of 28 entries, random.org chose the winner for the Lecien Cosmo sampler kit and it’s #22, Marian.  Congratulations!

Thank you so much to Lecien for you generosity!

This weeks project is an adorable zipper pouch designed by Amanda Jennings.

Elizabeth from Don’t Call Me Betsy is our blogger for this project and I love her little pouch.   Especially the lining fabric!

She has given some great advice on sewing this pouch up, so be sure to head over and check out her post.

Take a peek at her tutorials and patterns while you’re there, she has LOTS of inspiring things on her blog!
