Tell Me A Story Quilt | Intentional Piecing

I got a new book in the mail this week, Intentional Piecing by Amy Friend.

Intentional Piecing by Amy Friend

After seeing Amy’s post about the “Tell Me a Story” block, I wanted to join in too.    Her book is about using your fabrics in an intentional way to compliment a pattern design.

In the Tell Me a Story quilt you make an easy paper pieced block using fabric choices based on a story you want to tell.

At first I wasn’t sure I would be able to come up with a story from my fabric choices, but once I got going it was a lot of fun!

Ellie was so excited to start a garden.   She went to the Great Northern Seed Co. and picked out some strawberry plants.   She planted her rows and soon had gorgeous white flowers and juicy red berries ripe for picking!

The baby was still asleep when I finished the first, so of course I needed to tell a second story.

Eric wanted to take Ellie out for a date in the country to celebrate her new garden.   He packed up her vintage picnic basket and a red gingham table cloth and they set off for a picnic under the bright blue skies.

This is a whimsical project.   I think I will ask my older kids to join in on the next ones.   They have wild imaginations!
