Project Modern Challenge complete

Who knew a challenge could be so, *ahem*, challenging?

I’m so happy I entered though.   I think it is completely true that you won’t grow unless you step outside of your comfort zone.   I am officially outside!

  • This is my 8th quilt
  • My first contest entry
  • My first drawn and completed design
  • First time using a walking foot
  • First time straight line quilting (this was the most challenging part! man, that’s hard work!)
  • First solid colored quilt

I’m sure my husband is wondering if I can now go back to being a little less neurotic.   This is an outtake from my submission photo shoot.   I think I had taken about eleventy-eight photos and he was ready to punch me.  “Just one more”, I shouted!

Don’t tell him that I have 3 other quilts in the works already.   Our secret, k?

xo, Lindsey

  • Looks great! I didn’t enter this challenge but entered the last one, and it was such a good experience to get outside my comfort zone and push myself. Even if you don’t win, you’ve made a great quilt and learned a lot in the process. Give yourself a pat on the back! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Amazing job – it is absolutely beautiful! Like you, I entered too – and it was a huge challenge (I’ve been quilting less than 2 years and wanted to try this!). I love seeing what people came up with. Good luck in the judging!!! You did great! Here is mine.ReplyCancel

  • Hi Lindsey,
I just came across this quilt on Pinterest and I love it! Can you talk a little bit about how you designed this quilt? It looks like you started with strip piecing and then cut in to pie shaped wedges? Can you share? I would love to make something like this.ReplyCancel

    • Hey Shannon!

Thank you! Yes, it is paper pieced in wedges and then all sewn together. I actually have several pictures in progress on my old hard drive. I’m preparing to go out of town, but would be happy to share more in depth how I made it when I return. Would that be okay?ReplyCancel
