Liberated Charm

I finally get to share the ‘secret’ quilt!

You’ve probably seen several Modern Quilt Guilds hosting Kona Challenges, and in Atlanta we just wrapped ours up this past Sunday.

The amazing people at Robert Kaufman donated solid Kona charm packs for each of the members and then we had to create a quilt, making the best use of the charm pack.

Our Guild decided it would be fun to take the challenge a step further and make it a blind contest that would end with a mini quilt show to reveal the results.    It was really exciting, none of us knew who made any of the quilts and we each voted online for the Guild Choice 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

We also had a guest judge,  the lovely Melody Miller, who picked a Judge’s Choice quilt as a winner too.  Even Rasheida Coleman-Hale stopped by for the show, I was a bit star struck!

I struggled so much with this challenge and almost didn’t make the cut.   The week before it was due I decided to just start sewing and ended up with my first improv quilt.   I really love it and am so glad I was able to participate!
