Jennifer and I just wrapped up a fun swap called Stitch It | Zippy Pouches. My pouch has been received so I wanted to share what I made!
My partner loved low volume with pops of black, arrows, Anna Maria Horner and Alison Glass.
I squeezed all of that in one and made what I call the Broken Arrow Zippy!
I used this pattern for the paper pieced arrows. I printed the pattern at 45% to get mini arrows and made each one as a whole arrow.
Part way through I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I should cut them in half. *gasp*
Usually when I get a gut feeling, I hem and haw forever. Which I did. I folded them up and took pictures to ‘see’ what it might look like if I cut them in half.
Then I decided I hated it. Then I decided I loved it. And then I told myself to shut it and just went for it!
Go with your gut, I find it usually works out the best!
I sewed it up into a basic zippy pouch and topped it off with a gold tassel from my tutorial here.
We each stuffed our pouches with office supplies and I forgot to take a picture of what was inside.
I included some washi tape, a bundle of Cotton + Steel fabric scraps, a notebook, thread and one of my favorite pens.
I hope my partner loved everything, it was a lot of fun to make for her!
I received my pouch last Friday and totally lucked out! Vanessa from LBG Studio was my secret partner and she sent me an amazing package!
Everything was so me and I just love the pouch!
I told her I had been eying this pouch tutorial and I am so excited to have one of my own! The pattern is a free tutorial from Craft Passion found here.
I’m not sure yet if there will be a round two of Stitch It Swap, but I’ll be sure to let you know! It’s a lot of fun!

P.S. I’m trying to get back in the blogging swing of things. I’ve become a sucker for Instagram. Are you on IG? I’m LRstitched there if you want to follow along with my day to day. 🙂
I adore your pouch! It’s just perfect. Yes I’m on IG but I enjoy reading blogs still
Love the pouch you made and the one you received!! Good gut feeling to cut them in half!!! No twitter or IG for me, blogs only!
Wow- I really love the pouch you made and the pouch you received. I need that arrow pattern for sure!
I adore your arrow pouch and love that you cut them in half. Cute!!
Awesome!
This pattern is no longer available on craftsy (I am guessing due to the VAT mess) do you by any chance know who sells it?
Hot damn, I don’t think I’ve seen sexier arrows! The b/w stripey fabric really makes these pop! I’ve pinned it to my “Quilty Goodness” board on Pinterest (with proper credit, of course!). Feel free to follow me if you’d like: http://pinterest.com/lipglass/quilty-goodness/
I love the cut arrows; they’re so much more interesting that way! Modern, colorful and really work on that pouch.
I do follow you on IG. I’m @quilterinmotion Thanks for sharing your quilty life!
