Summer Sewing :: Craft Apron

Summer Sewing Contest at ELQ

I’m excited to be sharing my craft apron today for the Summer Sewing Contest at Ellison Lane Quilts!

I’m going to be teaching sewing classes this summer and working part-time at a creative co-op called Collective.

I wanted to make an apron to wear while I’m working so that I could keep my cell phone nearby for checking on my kiddos, business cards, a pen, etc.

It needed lots of pockets and apparently ruffles too!  I seem to have an addiction to ruffles lately (mostly due to my ruffler foot).

The apron has 8 functional pockets and I designed it so that the criss-cross allows for a variation in depth.

There is one deep enough that I could carry a pair of scissors or a rotary cutter and one shallow enough for a piece of gum.

I added a little apple applique and an embroidered ‘L’ (channeling my inner Laverne & Shirley) and extra long ties so that I could tie in the front.

I look forward to being able to wear it this summer, thank you Jen for the motivation to kick off my summer sewing!

There’s been lots of inspiring projects already and more to come, so be sure to visit the other bloggers Jennifer has gathered.

  • Your ruffle fabric looks *exactly* like some Martha Stewart sheets I have. Which I am now feeling the urge to repurpose. Which would give me an excuse to buy new sheets, right? (My husband just LOVES this train of thought. LOL.)ReplyCancel
