Art Caddy Tote

I shared this pattern with you a few days ago and I just couldn’t resist buying it myself.

(and then I proceeded to ignore the important things on my to-do list so that I could sew it!)

My little girl is 4 and she loves art.

If there is a piece of paper to be found, 99% of the time she has written her name on it along with a portrait of her family.

I love that she is always creating, but the downside is that there are crayons, paints, markers and pieces of paper ALL over the house.

(Which kinda drives me batty!)

I knew when I saw this little tote that I had to make it.    It seriously holds everything she needs and it’s sturdy enough that it won’t topple over and spill out the contents.

LOVE it!

The pattern goes together easily and is very well written.

My biggest challenge was trying to wrestle it so that I could topstitch around the top of the bag.    The sides have super extra heavy duty interfacing that bends, but not very much and I was trying to zoom through it.

Hello Lindsey, meet Patience.

When I went slowly it was just fine.

I want to enlarge it a bit and make one for myself.   I think it would be awesome for carrying all of your sewing tools if you have a sew-in or retreat to go to.

She found it on the table this morning and yelled ‘Moooom, did you make this bag for meeeee??!!’  Then she gave me a big bear hug.

I’ll take that as approval!

  • This is adorable! And your daughter’s reaction is so sweet! I’ve seen this before and might have to give it a try. My worry is that I don’t know if I’d be able to get my kids to put the supplies back in so nicely. They’re more like “shove everything into a drawer and run!” kinds of kids. Dang.ReplyCancel

What a sweet mom…and daughter! I know she’ll enjoy having her own little art supply bag! Love those scraps! Looks like I’ll need to make two. One for art supplies and one to carry my sewing supplies. I probably will need to make one a little larger for the sewing supplies, too.ReplyCancel

I am an artist myself and I just saw your bag and I love it! I guess you just make it for her, but I would like to know if you would make more and if you sell them and at what price.

    Thank you very much,

Could you email me and put in “artist bag” so I know is you and doesn’t go into my junk mail?

Honestly it is a fantastic bag to move around with the art stuff! 🙂ReplyCancel
