I saw this tote over at Alamode Fabrics.   I had a sweet little stack of fabric I bought to make a bag and  just hadn’t found a pattern.   This was it!  I absolutely love everything about this bag. I added in a little hand embroidery. And a longer strap with the selvages sewn on.   I […]

Now that my challenge entry is complete, I’m ready for a lighthearted project! A few weeks ago my Mom asked me about repairing one of my great-grandmother’s quilts.   When she passed away our family inherited three of her quilts.   We’ve had them since I was a little girl and I’ve always loved them.    I […]

  • I love that I’m not the only one with extra fabric that just happened to jump in the bag. How precious and heartfelt that you are going to re-create some memories.ReplyCancel

Love this post. I have a quilt from my grandmother too and I love it although it is so 70s. Sounds like yours is very special. Love that you are recreating it. What a great idea. I can’t wait to see it finished. I can’t imagine piecing a quilt by hand- oh my! Thank goodness for sewing machines!

Love your fabric you got- those ovals are great.
    🙂ReplyCancel

    • Thank you! I haven’t told my Mom that I’m making a new one, so I know she’ll be excited too. I love that maybe many years down the road my great-grandchildren might get to enjoy the quilts I have made. (many many years down the road, lol!)ReplyCancel

Who knew a challenge could be so, *ahem*, challenging? I’m so happy I entered though.   I think it is completely true that you won’t grow unless you step outside of your comfort zone.   I am officially outside!   This is my 8th quilt My first contest entry My first drawn and completed design First time […]

  • Looks great! I didn’t enter this challenge but entered the last one, and it was such a good experience to get outside my comfort zone and push myself. Even if you don’t win, you’ve made a great quilt and learned a lot in the process. Give yourself a pat on the back! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Amazing job – it is absolutely beautiful! Like you, I entered too – and it was a huge challenge (I’ve been quilting less than 2 years and wanted to try this!). I love seeing what people came up with. Good luck in the judging!!! You did great! Here is mine.ReplyCancel

  • Hi Lindsey,
I just came across this quilt on Pinterest and I love it! Can you talk a little bit about how you designed this quilt? It looks like you started with strip piecing and then cut in to pie shaped wedges? Can you share? I would love to make something like this.ReplyCancel

    • Hey Shannon!

Thank you! Yes, it is paper pieced in wedges and then all sewn together. I actually have several pictures in progress on my old hard drive. I’m preparing to go out of town, but would be happy to share more in depth how I made it when I return. Would that be okay?ReplyCancel
