Is this little guy (gal?) cute or what? My husband found him hiding by our house while he was cutting the grass. The kids have named him Sneaky.   They love going outside each morning to see if he’s still in the backyard ‘hiding’. And, he usually is.   He’s currently made himself at home in […]

  • Aww, very cute, and bound to keep the kids entertained for hours hunting for him!ReplyCancel

  • He’s so cute! We’ve had two show up near our house, one we named ODB (Old Dirty Bastard) and the next one was LDB (Little Dirty Bastard). It was super hot on the day LDB showed up so we put him in a tub of water. He…messed it up…and it stank! If Sneaky sticks around you may be re-naming him Stinky! 😛ReplyCancel

  • Awwww, I wish we had turtles around here. I had a pet turtle growing up and totally loved it. Enjoy your new friend!ReplyCancel

I wanted to link you all to 2 of our sew along partipants who’ve finished the patchwork ribbon. A few people started the project and found it to be hard to deal with because of the raw edges and the fraying threads. Linda and Simone came up with 2 alternative and creative ways to make […]

I hope the Zakka sew along group has fun with this one . Think of the possibilities …Christmas ribbon , baby boy , baby girl ,teen , wedding kitchen … Have fun! It’s quick too !ReplyCancel

I really enjoyed putting my ribbon together, not following a colour at all, just picking up what was under my fingers and adding it next….ReplyCancel

I participated in a mini quilt swap between the Atlanta and Ireland Modern Quilt Guilds that just wrapped up. This is the quilt I made for my lovely partner, Eva. I was a bit intimidated in my pairing because she has such great taste and talent! I stalked her flickr favorites and soon realized that […]

Such a beautiful piece…I can’t believe it is your first paper pieced project!! I love the colors, quilting, and fabric. I just completed my first EPP project and want to give this style of paper piecing a go because I love puzzles!ReplyCancel

    • Thank you Gina! I have paper pieced before, just never this style. If you love puzzles, then you will absolutely LOVE this technique. It’s finicky because of all the small pieces, but so worth it. I’ve yet to EPP, so I need to try that next!

  • that’s amazing! And what a fantastic idea to use the fabric on the wrong side for the back of the “fabric”. Genius!!ReplyCancel

  • Love it! The quilting really adds to it.ReplyCancel

This blew me away. I literally had to close my hanging jaw. I sooooooo love this, I am so inspired to make this! I’ll have to sew more before I attempt this, as I’m just a beginner and haven’t even tried paper piecing yet.

  • Kelly McCallan

Lindsey, Your quilt is beautiful. Great job. I have only made three very small blocks of paper piecing before. Recently I decided to try paper piecing again, and it is so much fun. i may try this pattern you just finished. I need to teach myself quite a bit more. I get lost when the patterns jump from say 7 to 8 – when 8 is across the other size of the pattern and doesn’t actually connect with 8 (does that make sense?). Anyway, your piece is wonderful.

Thank you Kelly! Definitely give it a try. I totally know what you mean regarding numbering, sometimes it doesn’t make any sense. Usually when it jumps, step 8 is just putting the fabric over that number and then sewing piece 9 on and eventually they will all connect. I don’t know if I’m explaining that clearly. Thank goodness for the seam ripper, ha!ReplyCancel

I loved this Project. I keep 2-1/2 inch squares by my sewing machine that I patch together whenever I need a break from a project– am changing threads and need to do a test or or..
I trimmed them –zig-zagged the edge and then did a straight stitch down the other side. I should add– the girls and I put together long strands similar to this project for Valentines day– cutting off 4″ portions for bookmarks. These they gave to the kids in their class. Again thanks for running this sew-along.ReplyCancel
